(Marshalltown, Iowa) - The Marshalltown Arts & Civic Center (MACC) invites the public to experience Seeing Anew Part II: Through the Collector’s Eye, at the Fisher Art Museum. The exhibit will open with a public reception on Friday, February 27, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., refreshments provided.

This exhibit marks the first time this portion of the collection has been displayed since undergoing professional restoration in 2020, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience these later 19th C. and early 20th C. works with fresh clarity and renewed appreciation. The collection, acquired by Bill and Dorothy Fisher over several decades, reflects their knowledge and tastes as fine arts collectors, and a deep and lasting love for the arts and for the Marshalltown community.

Seeing Anew Part II continues the story begun in the first installment of the exhibit, inviting audiences to once again admire select works from the museum’s permanent collection, this time through the lens of the collectors.

The restoration of these works was made possible by generous contributions from community members and the Martha-Ellen Tye Foundation, underscoring the shared commitment to preserving cultural resources for future generations. The exhibit stands as a testament to what can be achieved when philanthropy, stewardship, and community pride intersect.

“This exhibit showcases many outstanding works from the Fisher Art Collection. Individually, each is compelling and evocative. Hung together for the first time in this iteration, they offer the viewer an immersive, entertaining and educational experience.” said Nancy Adams, Fisher Art Museum Committee Member and Professor of Psychology at Marshalltown Community College. “Seeing Anew Part ll celebrates Bill and Dorothy’s discerning taste and passion for the arts and honors our community’s essential role in restoring and sustaining these works. Seeing these paintings renewed and on view again feels both a tribute and a new beginning.”

Opening at the end of February, the exhibit subtly echoes themes of devotion and care, reflecting the Fishers’ lifelong passion for the arts and their belief in investing in Marshalltown’s cultural legacy.

The opening reception will include light refreshments and is designed to welcome long-time supporters, art enthusiasts, and newcomers alike. Admission is free and open to all ages, making it an accessible and engaging evening for individuals, couples, and young adults seeking a meaningful cultural experience.

Seeing Anew Part II: Through the Collector’s Eye is on view at the Fisher Art Museum at the Marshalltown Arts & Civic Center. The exhibit will be on display through 2027. For more information, including Fisher Art Museum hours, visit the MACC’s website or follow the MACC on social media.
